@Mr___f Background checks and flagging is a FEDERAL obligation by all licensed gun stores. Your narrative that Texas, a state, is somehow different from the rest of the country in terms of background checks when there's a federal law just showcases how you argue based on "factoids" you heard somewhere rather than actually understand the issue.

@Terencetog Stop. Calm down. Really quick, try and explain what makes the AR "special" and in need of banning versus all the other rifles?

Didn't help in Afghanistan.

They have school stabbings instead.

@sqlevolicious That's not what the 2A says, and the Coast Guard isn't militia. The Dick Act of 1903 separate the unorganized militia (basically everyone) from the organized militia (National Guard). The Coast Guard are a branch of the military because they didn't want to get executed as spies if caught during the world wars.

The US couldn't defeat the Taliban.

If criminals had all the guns the problem would be much worse.

Look up Serpentza and his videos on child stabbings. There's a little known phenomenon of people who specifically attack children in China. They didn't reach any solution. China's "solutions" are a bad thing. You wouldn't want to live there.

No, it doesn't. It says right there, the right of the people not the right of the militia. There's a similar clause in the constitution of Rhode Island from the 1800s, which said something like "a free press being something something the people should have the right to publish their sentiments, being responsible for their speech". The first part is just arguing why the right is important. Then it gives the right to the people as a whole. Not the press.

@bekahgand That's a private sale. The federal government has no jurisdiction over private intrastate commerce, only the state government has, so it's a matter of choice for each state government to handle those purchases. There's no peer nations. The US is a very unique case. If you want "peers" in terms of violence... they're much worse and guns are very strictly controlled.
1
@bekahgand Nobody said anything about videogames. Map out where gun violence happens in the US and those places are closer to Caracas, Rio de Janeiro or Mexico City than London, Paris or Copenhagen.
1
@bekahgand But the problem isn't similarities, it's the differences. Chicago isn't Rome. Europe doesn't have a huge land border with Mexico.

@Spyegle Here's shooting competitions in France: /watch?v=mGRmfyCUM44 /watch?v=IoQWyd85uY8 Don't even try to lecture me.

Japan had a mass killing a couple of years ago, stabbing and arson.

Premature babies exist. Also, abortion primarily benefits men as it allows them to have sex without consequences. The pro-life side is filled with mothers who used to be pro-choice but after giving birth completely changed their stance as they can no longer support it after creating life.

@tmdarby I know Canadians. They do see guns as part of freedom and masculinity.
1
@tmdarby Maybe they just know better and hide their true feelings among people they don't trust to not get into trouble. Maybe one day they'll figure out there's not the minority.
1
@tmdarby I'm on the position of knowing, you're in the position of ignoring. I know some people. You don't. Clearly, you're the one who knows less. Here's a taste of what goes on in Canada: /watch?v=Qc_-iODo41E

@tmdarby It's you who's telling yourself what you need to hear. You're in denial. What I say is verifiable. You're coping.
1
@tmdarby Exactly, what I think doesn't matter. Reality does. You can live wherever you want, and still be oblivious about what's going on around you.

But that is peak "it doesn't affect me" mentality. A legal adult can go overseas and kill, or vote for the politicians who decide who will get killed next, but purchase a weapon and suddenly he's the bad guy for not waiting until 21?

The NRA helped gun control legislation go through. In fact they're in hot water with gun owners who have moved on to other organizations as the NRA is primarily a firearms industry shilling operation, they don't care about gun control as long as it makes money.
