And the 3:1 offensive advantage is localized. It doesn't matter if there's a million men in the frontline, if I pick a section with 10,000 enemies and I send 30,000 I am respecting the rule of thumb even though I may have less manpower in total.

Not just Bakhmut but Adiivka and the famous Vuhledar offensives. Bakhmut used up a lot of Wagner which were not mobilized men. Vulhedar used up units that required reconstitition with mobilized men.

@valyshknee4203 the dragon's teeth which are rotting and have voids to make them cheaper? Not even buried into the ground?

I talked to someone in Ukraine who fought in the early days as part of the defense militia. He's not mobilized because the AFU wants to have more professional soldiers rather than more conscripts.

@valyshknee4203 Some Ukrainians in a BMP filmed themselves drive into a dragon's teeth full speed, the vehicle jumped over it. The tank will not roll over. Either way, artillery shelling, using the tank's own gun, and even bulldozer blades on the front of the tank will deal with such cost-cutting obstacles.

Which is why he's scared of a Russian loss, he doesn't want to be traded as part of a peace deal.

@ammarhaziq919 The 300k mobilization was a last minute measure to fill the manpower gaps. Many were sent to the front and killed within a week of mobilization starting, to the point Ukrainian and Russian social media started calling it "morgue-ilization". The preparation for the counter-offensive is the electronic mobilization. Which skips the legal requirement to physically present the notification to a citizen.

@valyshknee4203 The US figured out how to mount RIM-7 Sea Sparrow missiles on 9K37 Buk launchers. It was based on an old Polish project to mount RIM-7 on the Kub launcher. NATO doesn't have a lot of ground air defense, but naval forces have a ton of air defense. So old naval missiles attached to a Soviet-era ground launcher allow the West to provide ammunition to reload Soviet systems.

They can't relax. It's the wait before the fight that eats you up.
