@Tkcb2799 The AK charging handle is centered on the rifle while the SCAR one is shifted forward. Putting it on the other side may actually be worse because you used to have a slick side and now there's a snag point.

@ACGBLR Not every semi has reciprocating charging handles. But that Sean Palmisano guy is a douche. He couldn't even understand why the SCAR was short stroking on steel case.

@Tkcb2799 It's not about blocking. It's about keeping the right side slick because a right handed user will have the right side of the weapon as the "outside" of the weapon for 99% of the time. If you keep your light in the left side because that's where your left thumb is, but then put the charging handle on the right side, you just increased the "width" of the weapon for no reason. Plus your left side will be the "inside" and your own arm will somewhat protect stuff from getting bumped.

@Nicholas Rodriguez That's great. But in doubt, I'd rather trust people who have had that happen to them and learned the hard way, because it tells me those who haven't had it happen to them are people who still have a chance it will happen to them. I wouldn't put attachments on the left side because of the snag potential, I'd be going against my own rationale by sticking the charging handle there. I'd rather deal with the fact that it's uncomfortable but at least it's on the same side as the light so I'm conscious of it, than have to worry about two areas of the rifle being snag points.

The military unironically spent more money on bringing the M-14 back than they would have just buying SCAR-Hs as DMR weapons.

@Nicholas Rodriguez Cool story.

@Nicholas Rodriguez You're right. I've changed my comment to reflect my change of mind. 308 sucks? Cool story bro.

Not missing anything, that is correct. They're usually designed so that can be fired while folded but that's simply so that you can fire in an emergency, such as while leaving a vehicle, and not causing a stoppage by blocking the brass with the stock or something.

@Nicholas Rodriguez I don't know someone who owns one, I listened to a review that included Maj. Weston Amaya's thoughts on the matter. Former SF. That's the person you're calling a kid.

@electric_crickets I comment a lot because I'm based and my opinions are correct and cool. If you know who I can get in contact with so I can get paid, shoot me a message.

So SOCOM required a reciprocating charging handle, and their own boys didn't want it? Yeah, sounds about right for a govt organization.
