If the US did not tax corporations or individuals the cost of doing business in the US would be much more competitive (and individuals would retain purchasing powder even with lower wages). So Mexico is able to undercut you. You know what's also fair? You have the choice not to purchase from Mexico. If everyone in the US refused to buy Mexican made cars suddenly those factories would have to close, tons of Mexicans would get laid off (I mean if it's a sob story for the US it's got to be one for them too), and auto manufacturers would come back. But it seems to me that the US insists on not matching the Mexican offers and buying Hecho In Mexico so I'd say it's perfectly fair.

  3. It's not a matter of suggesting other things, he just stated that it's a tax. Tariffs are literally import/export taxes.
