  1. I'd love it if the investment meant I got a cut of the profits proportional to my contribution. But we see Kickstarters doing $200,000, which is good by their standards, but that's barely enough to pay a few researchers for a year of work. So the system would have to be pretty mainstream, and I can already see Apple having a million people donate $50 to fund R&D without having to take from their budget.

  2. Global warming will cause an ice age. The melting of the ice caps will release cold water into the Gulf Stream, which carries an enormous amount of heat trough the planet. Basically, there's no way to run away from ice ages.
