@33greenleaf dude dogs can't understand uniforms if they see an unknown person invading their family's home they will try to protect it. How the fuck do you control your dog when you're being handcuffed or during a no knock raid?

@33greenleaf or they got the address wrong. And dude, they do no knock on credit fraud. A guy who killed a cop (and was found not guilty because self defense) on a no knock was originally being arrested for credit card fraud. Either way, ever heard of due process? Someone getting arrested doesn't mean guilty. Stop thinking like the military. My point was you can't claim people should control their dogs when they're fucking being arrested. How do you control your dog when handcuffed or being restrained by a couple of 200lb men?

@fae ragan if I freak out at a dog that means I am justified in killing it?

@Wesley22619 yeah when a company isn't providing a good service you file a complaint. If they ignore you stop giving them money. Since I can't unsubscribe from the taxes that pay for police services, they're gonna hear our complaints until we are satisfied. Don't like it? Move to North Korea, where people can't complain about the police.

You're invading the dog's home and he doesn't understand the concept of a uniform or badge. By the same logic it's justified when cops corner a clearly mentally ill man who doesn't understand the situation and at the first sign he tries to protect himself he gets gunned down.

It is, because a department getting sued for itchy trigger fingers costs more money.

I mean they do use these simulators with people, even the military has adopted them because departments and officers really like to not have to pay for real ammo. They're just repurposing the program to have dogs.

@GrannysAssSyndrome don't cut yourself on that edge, kiddo

ATF must be fuming.

@33greenleaf if you're gonna wait for 40 minutes for cops to respond to a pitbull mauling your children...
4
@33greenleaf it's not hyperbole. If a dog is mauling a child I can strangle the fucker myself. I'm not gonna wait at least 4 minutes for a man with a gun to shoot (and possibly hit the child).

+BlueBell22 that's not how it works in a civilized country where people have constitutional rights. It's the police that needs to fix their problems, not the populace that has to run away from them. Why don't you tell the Founding Fathers that if they didn't like the British they should have moved to a country without them? Dude what the fuck does dog training have anything to do with this conversation? Oh yeah let's send people with little to not experience on how to handle dogs to deal with them, and just trust that the quality and availability of dog training across America is consistent enough that a dog can be told to ignore his family being "attacked" by strangers.

+BlueBell22 you said people with complaints should move to where there are no cops. You got it backwards. People have rights. "moronic comment about how a dog would freak out if its owner was being cuffed" - your conclusion of the comment being moronic requires premises. Not an argument. "these police officers are getting trained. what are you talking about?" - talking about your scenario where dogs have the responsibility in the situation. "they have to deal with a population that can be irate and their animals that in some cases are aggressive, untrained, or both. get it?" - and they signed up to do it and are paid to do it. People working in the sewers have to deal with the smell. Don't like it? Get another job.

+BlueBell22 people tell libertarians/right wingers that if they want less government then move to Somalia. Now I'm here telling you that if you want people to stop complaining about police move to North Korea. You literally have no business telling anyone they can't complain. "if you have or had a dog, you would be hard pressed to know that with proper training dogs dont act the way you don't want them to, with proper commands" - how the fuck do you give commands while being manhandled? You actually think you can override the emotional response of what seems to be a home invasion and an attack on your family by sending your dog to some training camp for 2 weeks? "police officers signed up to deal with dogs?" - yeah if they signed up to enter people's homes they signed up to deal with anything that comes with the job. You might not literally sign a contract saying you're gonna touch shit when you sign up for working in the sewers but brother, shit's gonna touch you. If you want to enter people's homes to perform arrests but don't want to deal with dogs knowing that people have dogs... what exactly were you expecting? "if you hit someone with a car, is it the cars fault or is it yours?" - a car won't panic when threatened and defend the owner.

The simulator is already used with people. These projector rooms have existed for years (especially because live fire training is expensive). They just repurposed the program for dogs.
