  1. Yes. Vulkan allows developers to use the card anyway they want. You can have each card do half of the screen, or even have one render the center of the screen so that the other does the edges, the HUD, the minimap, etc.

  2. But that also locks one to a generation of graphics for the same time it takes for the CPU to be outdated. If more devs make use of APIs to offload the work between multi GPUs one would be able to use the expansion slots to keep the system up to date as the APU deals with less demanding tasks and the newer cards do the heavy lifting.
