  4. collin ohlinger Except there's thousands of SWAT calls for no-knock warrants for stuff like credit card fraud, etc. I agree that it's cheaper to get surplus from the military, but a lot of stuff isn't surplus. Plus, violent crime has been on the decline for the past two decades and a lot of these SWAT teams have been popping out in small cities with little crime. If an officer needs it, he/she buys it from his own pocket like all the other civilians. "Fighting the cartels", as if nobody was willing to take that cartel money to divert police attention away from them. Those items will be used on American citizens, many times on non-drug dealing ones.
