Yet we don't perform TSA cavity searches on everyone, we don't use those machines that strip you into a naked smurf. Your point is that we should be invasive to everyone who gets on board. Also, I take public transportation every day, nobody is "screened". And if you noticed, more terrorist attacks affect buses and subways combined than airplanes.

You're right, looking at the last 30 years, lighting strikes are literally three times bigger killers than mass shootings. It's not such a big problem by itself. But I have to say that to the uninformed it's easy to be manipulated by the numbers of deaths that would have been prevented if there were people looking for the source of the motivations.

Canadians and the Swiss have different laws in place. They probably don't even prescribe the same drugs as in the US. Drugs that cost me 50€ probably cost $500 in the US because of their different laws. >Where are your solutions instead of just your complaints? If you helped me and other gun owners, we'd have a voice. But you insist on drowning us, while letting the big fat cats who are probably sitting on cures for AIDS since the treatments are more profitable.

>along with four years of military training Lie. The military training is part of the conscription military service. It is not required to own a firearm. >comprehensive background checks Adding the word comprehensive doesn't really mean anything. Switzerland used to have loose private sales, and along with a full automatic rifle their militia members were also allowed to keep 50 rounds of ammo. Yet they didn't went into mass shootings as a national past time.

Mitt Romney was all about stripping us of our rights so that he could please the elite and take the "weapons of war that are on the streets" off the peasants' hands.

So I care about people's safety, that's less than you? I cared about the 200 people who burned to death in Brazil early this year. If a mass killer wants to he can trap dozens or hundreds in an enclosed space and throw molotov cocktails. I care about people being able to be in their college campus and not get raped. You only care about people not getting shot. People are 3x more likely to be struck by lightning than killed in a mass shooting - when do we ban lighting?

The kids in China didn't die because the attacker was just bent on going for their ears or something. He was just in it for wounding, not killing. Had he actually tried to kill them children, we'd see a massive death toll. Tell me in my face you'd like to have your children attacked by a madman in their school with a knife. Unless you tell me that it's worthless to say it's an improvement to let our children at the mercy of a madman who might want to wound, might want to kill.
1
The same could be said for rape victims. You're okay with people being injured, raped or burnt to death, as long as firearms are not involved. Most rape victims survive, only a few commit suicide. And apparently you're okay with mad people stabbing kids as long as they're only wounded. Doesn't their SAFETY mean nothing to you?

What are the side effects of water? Now check the side effects of those anti-depressants. The problem isn't just the mentally ill, the problem is the PERFECTLY sane people taking them too because doctors will prescribe them to anyone? Do you go to sleep at night, do you wake up in the morning? Do you feel cold? Do you feel warm? Better take these mood altering drugs instead of being a normal teenager!

That's not the point, there had been some "polls" that claimed 74% of the NRA supported universal background checks and what not. They were using phoney stats to make us look divided.
1
Again, you're not understanding plain English. You're still supporting something that doesn't implement registration, it implements a pseudo registration that forces everyone into being a criminal for owning guns. At least understand the measures you're supporting. A registry with the NRA? I wouldn't trust them with such vital information. Understand that if a UBG check was implemented, I could rat on you to the police and it would be enough probable cause to get a warrant.

Canada confiscated legal rifles, the QBZ-95 in .223 Remington. They respected the law and for arbitrary reasons they decided that they could be modified into full auto (like any firearm can be converted, even the 1903 Springfield bolt action had a conversion to fire in automatic .30 Carbine). Instead of letting the people keep their rifles and ban the import, they were confiscated.
1
You're moving the goal posts. You claimed there was no confiscation. There was. You're basically a liar now, or just terribly misinformed. I'm sorry, but that's the point in trying to convince anyone after you've proven you're either dishonest or not even willing to research about the topic you're debating?

Switzerland isn't in the EU.

A mathematician, an accountant and a surveyor that did polls apply for the same job. The interviewer asked all of them "How much is 2 + 2?". The mathematician said "4". The accountant said "Four, plus tax". The surveyor got up, shut the door, moved his chair closer and asked "How much do you want it to be?".
1
It's not just the taxes. These new laws could allow a few gun owners being caught for "illegal guns" (guns that were inherited, bought in private sales, etc), being used as an example for the rest of us, and then the belief that Mr. X down the street owns "illegal guns" will be a useful probable cause for search warrants.
1
Canada. UK. Australia. All of them confiscated items that were legal.

>We do have dog sniffers on public transportation Not everywhere. You must live where the streets are paved with gold. >we did give law enforcement more tools to be able to strike down people Period. We gave up rights in the name of a fight against an ideology. Seriously... >Nahhhhhhhhh, let's not do a thing. Sure, because tracking down the CAUSE of the shootings isn't doing anything at all. I'm going to have to tell you to go fuck yourself if you're implying I support the killings.
1
So you're using the Hitler argument and accusing me of not lobbying against the "mood altering drugs for everyone, inc", while you're the one wasting our time. You're not creating any change here, and instead of helping us solve the problem of mass killings you're after the "gun bogey man". Seriously!
1
I never said "only" 20 kids died. I'm saying that we have to PROVE the root cause of these mass shootings. The rest of the world has firearms, legal or illegal, and people aren't killing each other. Guess what, the rest of the world doesn't have a broken mental healthcare and the Big Pharma pushing their mood changing drugs into everyone who's got a mouth to take them.
1
Because it would step on the toes of the Big Pharma. I'm assuming you're a liberal. Watch Micheal Moore's SiCKO. There's no excuse to marketing anti-depressants to everyone who has human emotions. Specially when most mass shooters were taking them.

I'm the one fighting for the right of his son to live. The dad was irresponsible. His son was too, a lesser extent and whatnot. If the dad didn't have guns, he'd have stabbed his son or crushed his skull with a baseball bat. His dad was a danger, not the guns.
1
That's because you clearly haven't read up on the subject, or you can't understand plain English. If the firearms are unregistered, how do you prove that your guns were bought legally? Because the UBG check would require a bill of sale, a will or some sort of legal document that would prove the gun was mine. The UBG check would make millions of people turn into felons overnight because they don't have proof that their gun is theirs.
