It's important to remember that the "shock therapy" was disregarded as many Soviet-era apparatchiks just said "Soviet money printer goes BRRRRT" and went against the monetary policy which lead to massive inflation. Then Yeltsin's "loans for shares" controversy sold off Russia's industry for pennies on the dollar. Shock therapy is the scapegoat.

  2. You do realize that WW2 started because Germany started annexing land, then after it ended the USSR refused to give independence to nations they seized from the Germans, right? So Western countries had to protect themselves from being gobbled up. Saying the West should have let the Soviet Union into NATO makes less sense than saying the Soviets shouldn't have kept control of land that wasn't theirs.

  5.  @YamnayaSintash  So you didn't watch the video. He literally brought receipts on how Russia was not antagonized. The victim mentality was a re-writing of the events to fit the new Putin regime. He didn't say "Russia bad". He quite literally went back to show Putin saying "West isn't bad" at the time those things happened.

  6.  @robertjenkins6132  You're spending a lot of words to say something that doesn't contradict what I said. Give control of economic policy to a toddler and everything will break apart. The reason money supply needs to increase in a "real economy" is precisely the same reason why Russia needing to reform and Soviet-era nonsense peddlers saying "DON'T CARE, SOVIET ECONOMICS TO THE RESCUE" will wreck the economy. The Soviet economy was collapsing before the breakup.

  10. 1. The USSR kept control of territory Germany annexed. Europe fought WW2 to liberate those countries. Then Moscow says "nah the communist party is in charge"? The USSR essentially undid the sacrifice of millions. 2. After communism Russia was still involved in Transnistria, Chechnya and South Ossetia.
