I'm not sure I understand. The use of oil has fueled entire economies. We don't use coal powered ships or aircraft to move cargo around. Although it is expensive to extract and transport, in many aspects it beats even the "free" energy we get from the sun. Installing a system to charge a personal car with solar panels costs more than several years worth of refined fuel, requiring a long return on investment. And that's for a personal car, we still don't have a good electric replacement for transport trucks. It seems that until modern tech smooths out the kinks, all energy comes from burning banknotes but oil burns the least and that's why we depend on it. I don't like how so many of the "greats" have weird quotes which seem idealistic and show a profound disconnect from reality.

@OmmerSyssel There's no long established knowledge and technology as it was never commercially available until very recently. Update my knowledge? Read my comment again. You're replying half cocked without understanding. How can MODERN technology somehow go back to the past and change history?

But he isn't and even if he were, it's not working. Do something yourself instead of trying to live vicariously through corrupt leaders.

So prosperous that HIV and drug resistant TB are huge issues.

Just the small issues with their extraction capabilities being powered by Western technology that's now under sanctions, the oil and gas fields progressively getting harder to extract as they obviously started with the easiest ones first, and how most of the world will refuse to offer insurance to Russian ships which will make transport expensive.

North Vietnam had a centrally controlled army, in fact the huge losses the VC suffered due to the Tet Offensive meant that the NVA ended up replacing the guerrillas with conventional soldiers.

@Bob-jn8gt Ever heard of Khe Sanh? That battle was almost 6 months of the USMC, US Army and ARVN facing the People's Army of Vietnam. The concept that the entire war was fought by men in black pajamas and straw hats is fiction.

@peterbonucci9661 Black and white fallacy. 1990s cars had better fuel economy and emissions control than 70s cars, and 2000s cars already had parking sensors.

@peterbonucci9661 We're not talking about giving up processors in cars. We're talking about how self-driving modes and tracking increase the demand for chips beyond what was commonplace 20 years ago.

@k53847 Operating below Soviet radar worked in the 1960s when ground clutter was hard to filter. There's a reason Soviets/present day Russia designed radars to help SAMs shoot down American aircraft trying to operate below Soviet radar.

The product doesn't kill people, people kill people.

There are ways to rip audio from youtube videos. I use an app that's not on the app store but there are browser-based video to mp3 converters.
