If they get a raise, cost of doing businesses raises, which either forces hours to be cut or prices to increase to reflect that. The system is fragile, you can't just pull levers and push buttons without regards for the consequences.

Not a single aircraft or naval vessel has been sent. The only tanks that will be sent are spares with the DU armor removed. Europe is padding the Leopard 2 deliveries with Leopard 1s. The Javelins sent were manufactured to destroy Russian tanks, which is being accomplished.

@ThursonJames Most figures you've seen include the dollar value of the materiel sent as if brand new. They're not getting taxpayer money, they're getting metal. In fact, the taxpayer pays to upkeep and dismantle that equipment. Sending it to combat is dirt cheap.

@ThursonJames If nobody wants to buy, it has no resale value. Also, explosive material and rocket engines have to be remade. Can't be sold "as is", fuel can develop cracks and cause rockets to explode on launch.

@spookytkid Russia has something called Purchasing Power Parity advantage. Their 67 billion defense budget is equivalent to 220 billion USD defense spending because they buy from themselves and Russia is a less weathy country where things are cheap. They printed a trillion rubles at the start of the war. This is costing them a lot, they even had to take money from the pension funds.

The same can't be said because the US has been stalling on delivering Abrams, Russia is already bringing T-55s out of storage.
