Earth has been a hellish landscape full of lava, Earth is always fine. But the environment isn't. Things have changed.

@matthewparker9276 Climate can change without one realizing. But you can easily look at reference points and compare to old photos to check sea levels. No memory trickery there. I think potholer54 has a video on sea levels not rising, I'm on mobile and will have to watch later.

The issue is that money thrown at the least effective solutions is money not thrown at actually promising stuff. If I want to change a lightbulb standing on a chair is almost as effective as a ladder, but it doesn't cost me billions of USD.

@crawkn I don't think you got the picture. Even the study didn't estimate using seaweed alone. It was about removing 1 gigaton per year or 25% of the total removal per year necessary to meet 2050 goals. So basically we're already throwing our hands in the air with a hail mary just to give seaweed the best chance. So no, she didn't say it wouldn't solve CO2 alone. She said it wouldn't even make a dent, let alone solve any problem by itself. It is cost prohibitive. Farms produce for the purpose of selling. CO2 capture would mean having to sink the algae to the bottom. So you're producing to waste the end product, not use it as food. And farms have a logistical limit to their size, surely there's overcrowding, fertilizer dispersal and disease issues. So you're trying to say that just because we have dairy farms, that means it's possible to have an Egypt sized cow farm. You'd need to charter private jets to take veterinarians to see the cows. Cost prohibitive. You can't make stuff comically sized and expect them to work.
