Some guy in Brazil owed a boatload of money to the government (don't remember if it was taxes) so he sold all his assets and converted to bitcoin.

@promo242 No idea because I don't remember his name, a friend of mine told me about it became he became a legend in Brazilian libertarian and ancap circles. It's presumed he fled the country but I could be misremembering it.

@promo242 Sometimes they claim they "seized" it but the government doesn't actually have access to the account. This month it was reported that the German authorities seized a bitcoin wallet worth 60 million but they don't have the private keys and the owner refused to hand it to them. Articles from 2013 say that the feds never got Ross Ulbricht's private keys either so despite the bitcoins being "seized" the government can't actually access them.
