@chuletaization If the protests were only against the government I wouldn't have a problem, but people had to sit on the rooftops of their stores with rifles to prevent them from being burned down. That's not government.

China had rolling lockdowns on a city by city basis. From the outside it looks like they're business as usual but they stagger which parts of the country have ground to a halt, instead of stopping the entire country at once.

@vogonjelc Hey the drugs that prevent hospitalization are pretty cheap. They should have factored those in instead of just following the playbook.

@vogonjelc I don't see what communism has anything to do with this. Cheap medicine is made by capitalists. Expensive medicine is being bought by government while the cheap is banned. This isn't capitalism, it's a prohibition on free trade.

@Yodalemos Funny thing is in Europe there's massive violations of gun safety by cops but because there's no gun culture that goes unpunished, but cops that do use the firearm justifiably can get jail time. This happened in Portugal, some irresponsible parent decided to do a robbery with his kid in the car and when a police officer was shooting at the car in an attempt to disable him, he unknowingly struck the child killing him. The cop was sentenced to something like 8 years but he served less, I think. Shouldn't the criminal father have been charged instead? He was the one who placed the child in the path of those bullets. That cop then became the poster boy for the "muh cops are unfairly treated" shtick of a right wing party. Well they're not unfairly treated, it's just that the justice system is r-tarded.

@Yodalemos The thief was not just "escaping", the shots were directed at the vehicle because the fleeing suspect was using the van as a weapon and threatening both bystanders and officers' lives. Honestly he should have directed the gunfire at the driver's head, but that might have not got the limp body to release the throttle, while a busted engine will resist the turning of the crank and thus stop the axle.

No offense but that's the definition of too little, too late. If people are coming down with delta, it's too late. Omicron will have already outcompeted delta by the time you see the results of the lockdown due to the time lag. If anything you may contribute to household spread of delta and prevent omicron from taking over.
