  2.  El-ahrairah  that's not libertarianism. Sorry, but his ideas require the use of state force which goes against libertarianism. Also, I'm pretty sure that Milton Friedman did not advocate for a UBI but a negative tax rate but I could be misremembering.

  3.  El-ahrairah  That's not UBI. Without looking it up I am still pretty sure it was a negative income tax. It was not universal and it was not basic income. Friedman's idea is simply to get some free market traction is an inherently "unfree" government project. Yang's UBI is not a libertarian idea, it's an inherently anti-libertarian and progressive idea - the usage of taxation as a wealth-redistribution mechanism and the transformation of the state into a primary "caregiver" by giving people a basic income is anti-libertarian. It differs from an auth-leftist ideal of fully state controlled services but it is still a progressive idea. "a focus on personal wealth as a solution to all problems, is clearly a libertarian concept." - then you misunderstand libertarianism. Libertarianism is not about wealth. It's about rejecting the legitimacy of the state, the boiling down of state agency a simply the use of violence through armed enforcers (police, federal agencies, military) and how the government infringes on people's rights by injecting itself into voluntary transactions. Libertarian comes from "Liber", latin for "free". "Right, this is why libertarianism is a bit of a joke right?" - yeah, it's a joke. Because people have essentially been raised in an environment where they are taught that the government is good and justified in everything it does. And somehow, we have been convinced that government agency is benevolent even though ALL government is enforced at gunpoint.
