@WageSlaving2TheTop ! the point is that even without "kulaks" the USSR couldn't produce shit for the price-controlled stores. You know where there was food in the USSR? In the farmer markets without price fixing. Goddamn private farmers fed the people, not the state.

@bluenami7520 "Explain Switzerland and Europe. The more money printed, the lower prices go and the stronger the currency gets." - I'm European and prices have skyrocketed since the adoption of the Euro.

@WageSlaving2TheTop ! You don't even understand enough about Soviet history to even get what I'm referring to. I'm referring to the land plots Soviet citizens were entitled to work on in addition to the state-ran farms. The state ran system was incredibly inefficient and corrupt, the price-fixing attempted to hide the inflation and at times of shortage the goods were rationed. People waited in lines because they wanted to get the good products for cheap and distribution was so poor that people traveled many miles to go to the better stocked stores. However, even when the store shelves were bare the people did not starve because those farmers, which I ironically called "kulaks", sold their produce in farmer's markets. First you massacre the kulaks, then you depend on them to feed your people.

@Protectobot Give a bailout to banks and it causes inflation in the financial sector. Give bailout to the consumer goods sector and you'll destroy the people's purchasing power.

@Commie 1776 "I've studied the subject for most of my life, so I know what I'm talking about" - last time I talked to a your kind I was called a conspiracy theorist for bringing up the fact that Nazis started digging up their own mass graves and burning the bodies when they came across Soviet mass graves and realized that holes in the dirt don't hide evidence of crimes. Just one of your "experts" who called bs on a well documented historical event, and who stopped replying after I linked the sources. The funny thing is, he actually said that if that was true then Russia would have admitted the event was real after the breakup of the USSR. I pointed out that for the sake of easing tensions, the Soviet Union admitted to Poland the massacre was real and happened... before the breakup. in 1989. Embarrassing. Unfortunately we were shotgunning topics at each other in a comments section so he also stopped replying when I pointed out sources that studied Ukrainian population from the 1920s to the 1937 census and after taking into account forced and voluntary displacements, there were around 3 million people short - which means that despite a nominal population growth there were indeed millions of death due to famine and a million deaths that although the cause was disease, the fatality of the disease was exacerbated by the famine. Not to extend this much further, but I also pointed out that using population numbers to deny genocide is a classic Neo-Nazi tactic, and this idiotic motherfucker had the nerve to claim that as an anti-fascist he studied Neo-Nazi denial tactics extensively and had never heard of the population numbers being used as a denial tactic. That's the level of expertise you have on your ranks. Half of you people are clowns who think they're hot shit because you read a couple of books written by your people. I'm no historian. I'm not an expert at anything. I'm a dumb motherfucker. And yet I don't fall for your tricks. I don't care what Jimmy reads, he can read whatever he wants.
2
@Commie 1776 yeah none of you ever are. You're always the good guys. But you all "read the books" from sympathizers at worst and apologists at best.
2
@layinlow77 "instead of having some system where it could be distributed." - That system requires keeping people working. So the problem is still the quarantine.
2
@mrchrysler9736 "their drive-thru's are packed" - Fast food isn't the only kind of restaurant.
2
@Revolutionary Communist "Restaurants are delivering food now." - A minority of them is. Most stuff is closed.
2
Jack Bradford So? The supply chain has been severed. If you don't have people to harvest, package, ship, etc. you can't give it to the hungry.

Producing for yourself is capitalism, ba-bey.
1
>government shuts down economy >"free" market is inefficient
1
@gfarrell80 Yeah but I didn't see you speak up then, so I only have the context of this interaction. In this particular case you're wrong, don't fault me for not being aware of every critique you've made in the past.
1
@Commie 1776 I take you have an unbiased opinion, Mr. Commie 1776.
1
@bluenami7520 "Capitalism is a system whereby profit dictates what happens." - destroying the crops gives absolutely no profit. It's a net loss.
1
@bluenami7520 ""if you worked your butt off to become a top surgeon, would you be content to live in a small apartment and work for cheap?" I would." - You say that, but you wouldn't.
1
@bluenami7520 "Hope for a profit is the only reason the crop exists. Farmers don't plant for the good of humanity, but to make profit." - Literally irrelevant. We're talking about the destruction of crops and you're blaming it on capitalism. Stay on topic or just tap out.
1
@bluenami7520 "I'd be embarrassed to live extravagantly." - Who cares about extravagance? You wouldn't do surgeon work for a low wage. I had jobs I'd have stayed in if they paid more. But I will not put more effort and stress into something that doesn't offer a return. I've made horizontal moves where I ended up working less for more money. I have a limited time on this life so I'm getting the bang for the buck, or in this case the buck for the bang.
1
@bluenami7520 Nobody's losing or winning. You're talking about irrelevant shit. Your claim was that the destruction was caused by profit, and you backed up the claim by saying that the creation was caused by profit. "The whole reason the crop exists is predicated on profit, which makes it an example of capitalism, whether it's dumped or not is irrelevant." - And then literally making it illegal to do business is not an example of capitalism. Which is why the dumping is irrelevant. "if there is no profit in harvesting, then the crop is dumped. Profit determines what happens (capitalism) and not the social good (socialism)." - Take a step back. In market socialism doing things at a loss still punishes the system and cannot be sustained for long. In a socialist country that's actually "state capitalism" the social good does not supersede trying to keep the economy on track. FDR, which by the way I'm not using as an example of socialism before you open your mouth with a tired excuse, destroyed food "for the social good". That happened. A government that "cared" about social good did what you're complaining about. Because FDR and his cronies were such fucking retards that they confused cause and effect and attempted to end the crisis by increasing prices. This meant destroying produce. While people were starving.
1
@bluenami7520 "No, I wouldn't do it for a low wage" - Then it's settled.
1
@Commie 1776 "we must live and act according to the laws of the world in which we currently live." - not really.
1
Yeah and Nazi Germany could do that because they saved a lot of money paying arms manufacturers in debt bills they had no intention of paying, and when the walls were closing in Hitler was forced to use conquest to pay the bills. Nazis created an economic bubble. They were fucking retarded.
1
@keto3883 What you're saying doesn't even make sense, please write with better grammar. Doesn't change the fact that Germany was forced into the war too soon (it was mathematically impossible to win because Germany didn't have enough oil), they were economically retarded, drove the economy into a bubble so serious it would bankrupt the country back to Wiemar levels, they did things like taking the money for the Volkswagen but none of the people who completed the payments received their cars because they used the money and factory to make military vehicles, and the only thing that prevented the bankruptcy was stealing from the Austrian, Czech and Polish banks.
1
@keto3883 "there so many assumptions needed for a calculation in the first place" - You can just look at the end result - Germany had chronic oil shortages. The battle plan was for the Nazis to take over oil fields to be able to continue the war. They failed, because the Soviets sabotaged the equipment and Germany did not hold the territory long enough to get a single barrel of oil. "maybe my history lesson was wrong but it worked pretty well for the germans" - Actually the Germans lost so many infantry troops to attrition that they had to take troops from non-combat roles and put them in infantry while drafting more men for the non-combat jobs. Meanwhile the Soviets were getting fresh replacements of men thanks to American trucks. Lend-Lease, babey. "you can t know if more preperation would have worked better or not." - You can't because Nazis are economically retarded and were forced into starting the war to be able to pay off debt. "assuming the goal was war after they start building weapons makes no sense ..... sure sure." - Your English is just hard to understand because of run on sentences. The point is that the German government racked impressible debt with their massive government spending. The end goal of the rearmament is completely irrelevant. Nazi Germany was just some guy who got into so much debt he had to steal from his neighbor to stay afloat.
1
@Badatallthis Stuff "The spare parts? Really? The US Military is incapable of repairing a tractor?" - You'd be surprised. "Using the same tools they use to do maintenance on OTHER immense physical machinery?" - You do realize it's not like jacking your Ford Pinto, right? You can't use M1 Abrams tooling on farming equipment.
1
@repit5014 China did close Hubei province while allowing flights out. Say what you want, but they knew it was dangerous to their country and said "fuck it let's spread it worldwide".
1
@jnorth9431 the institutions that help the homeless don't have pasteurization facilities.
1
Vasilijan Nikolovski The second you start claiming that the needy should be drinking spoiled milk you sound like a moron.
1
@dougs78records64 so your democratic socialist system wouldn't shut down anything at all during the pandemic. I'm glad we're all in agreement that the government enforced quarantine is the problem.
1
And then get sued because someone got E Coli.
1
@kensurrency2564 Pretty bad case for socialism when both Stalin and Mao managed to "hijack" the movement. Seems like you people have a hand for picking the worst possible leaders.
1
@vinnyb3978 Seems to me like the free market is solving the farming problem, then. Government regulated markets choke farms out of existence? The farmers use the free market.
1
If you put that money on consumer goods you destroy the purchasing power of the dollar.
1
Jack Bradford I'm not defending the military.
1
The government shut everything down! If government was growing the food then they'd have to break their own quarantine rules.
