@Baphomets_Kid they've been questioned by local police? That's vague. Maybe they have some unpaid tickets, issuing threats on facebook/twitter or doing sovereign citizen stuff and when the police comes knocking to talk to them they go "THEY'RE COMING FOR ME BECAUSE OF MY YOUTUBE VIDEOS". Even communists disavow the Soviet Union. Even if you think communism is good, you could agree that giving Eastern Europe to them and the danger of them taking over Western Europe, Africa and Southern America would harm millions of people.

It was clearly an interdiction mission that was diverted when an unknown ship was sighted after a change of shift lead to the USS Liberty identification being lost in the battle management map.

Probably a very common occurence. In media we show spies just icing people with no hesitation or remorse because they got the Black Widow training but in real life it's just people hanging out and writing reports to their superiors.

That's a reasonable assumption. However note that back then we still had to fly spy planes to take high altitude photos because satellite surveillance was in its infancy. Nowadays Russia can say they're totally winning in Ukraine, but we can purchase satellite photos showing they burned through tanks and artillery like crazy. Even then you have delusional Westerners who don't believe the satellite imagery and think Russia is having a great time in Ukraine. Back then you couldn't just show all the bad stuff Soviets were doing. And many people especially in lesser developed countries were thinking "the land and factory owners are treating us like slaves, let's give these rebels a chance" and the abstract threat of communism failing was not as relevant as their real life working conditions. You could say "bro trust me, we don't have pictures but the Soviets put dissidents in labor camps and work them to the bone" and they'd be like "bruh that's just Monday for me" and pick up an AK.
