  4. ​ @brankomilicevic6904  it was the border region of EUROPE because beyond Ukraine you had Black Sea pirates and beyond you had the peoples from the Caucasus. Ukraine existed before Russia did. The principality of Muscovy was a region that picked the name of the Rus after the Mongols lost power over it. But "Ukraina" was written on European maps because it was OUR border and going beyond to the East was bad news.
