  3. It's not a proxy war, though. It's Ukraine vs Russia. Not US vs North Korea using Ukraine and Russia as their proxies. A proxy war is like Vietnam. North Vietnam was a USSR proxy while South Vietnam was a US proxy.

  8. Because Europe needed to rebuild from WWII and prepare for Soviet invasion. So the US being an ocean away was a disadvantage that had an upside which was putting a large reserve of equipment outside of the USSR's strike range and in case of invasion of Western Europe the US could ship in reinforcements. If the Soviet Union took over Europe, the US would become isolated. When the Cold War ended, Europe wasn't going to out of a sudden start their own massive arms stockpile. The US has thousands of Abrams it can't export for bureaucratic reasons. The EU has a few hundred Leopards it can't send because they're straight up unsalvageable.

I respect those who stand and fight more than those who give up on life and wallow on their own misery because it's easier than getting sober and finding a job.
