  1. You misunderstand that attrition isn't just manpower. What happens to the Russian army if they conscript 5 million men, but have no artillery? Ukraine is attriting supply vehicles and artillery tubes, ensuring that no matter how much population Russia has, they won't have an army.

  7. War fatigue in Russia was confirmed when they pulled out the T-55s. It's a nation on its last legs. Millions of soldiers without equipment will just be cut down.

  8. Men without guns does not an artillery battery make either. Russia loses dozens of artillery tubes per day. Methodical cutting of the tendons and ligaments. Attacking the supply lines by getting within of range of Tokmak - blood choke on the carotid artery. A limp body passing out can be as "fat" as you want. Manpower only strains supplies once cut.

  10. The best part of NATO training isn't equally distributed in Ukraine. Some of the most effective units work under Western-style organization while Ukraine still has Soviet-style officers who want to stick to their old ways.

  15. The lines of defense are there to protect hubs like Tokmak and Melitopol. Building newer defenses in less time way behind where they should be does nothing. It's like hiding from an anaconda inside a cage that leaves your head on the outside. The neck is precisely what's gonns get choked out.

  18.  @martinsmith9054  It's not about men. A few "potholes" on Antonovsky bridge was enough for Russia to give the city of Kherson, and everything to the north. Put 300 million men in the front. With a rail supply cut, they starve. Dig trenches for 100 miles. Without supplies the trenches are just filled in and rolled over. Russians did not break when Kherson was attacked. They broke when supply lines were reduced to ferries.

They used American trucks, American ammo, American gunpower to load their domestic production ammo, American aviation fuel to keep their aircraft running, American canned food to prevent starvation. Maybe Moscow will learn what its like to be on the other side of lend lease. It's decades overdue compared to Ukraine.

  25. Nope, they're attacking to cut Tokmak. Much like Antonovsky bridge getting potholed caused the entire northern region of Kherson to be abandoned, cutting the rail supply will force the Russian army to either retreat or run out of ammo.

  26. ​ @GusOfTheDorks  The large explosive clearing of mines has a problem - everyone sees the massive smoke puff from tens of miles away. Unless you feint multiple explosive breachings at the same timeto divide the attention of artillery, your position gets hosed with shells.

  27. The defenses took months to build. Also the Soviet tactic was true defense in depth where Germany was forced to fight through "ablative" lines which gave way and retreated behind the next lines. By the time Germans pushed through several lines, they met the "true" defensive line with the best troops. Meanwhile Ukraine pushed the greyzone before even getting near the lines and Russia was throwing their reserves because losing territory = bad news and you can't have bad news in Russia. They did exactly the opposite of what they should have.
