The Mujahideen didn't all become Taliban and the Taliban is not Al Qaeda. Good lord. Bin Laden was Saudi and so were most of the hijackers.

But you need to cede territory to fight defensively. Refusing to cede just means you give up defensive advantage by being baited into fighting offensively. Ukrainian tactics are now small offensives that quickly switch to defense.

Elastic defense? Do you read any correspondence put out by Russians themselves? They bleed for every inch of territory, nothing elastic about their defense. Ukraine moves, Russia throws the VDV at them. Since people only have the war maps to keep tabs on the conflict, the Russuan government depends on the map not changing to convince their people they are winning.

It's literally a cope to respond to Winter on Fire, a documentary released a year prior. The deep divisions did not exist, it was political posturing. Preserving lives is done by removing the killers from the face of the Earth.
