Gonna have to ask you how you believe a missile fired from 0 ft altitude can reach 65,000 ft but a missile fired from 40-50,000 ft can't.

@afcgeo882 I know they're different missiles. Don't use name-calling or else your comment gets shadowbanned. The point is that a missile fired from 40,000ft at high subsonic speeds will have a MASSIVE energy advantage over a telephone pole SAM that starts from 0 height and 0 speed. The Chinese balloon shot down in 2023 was flying at roughly 60-65,000ft and was shot down by an AIM-9X fired from 58,000ft. The AIM-9X is tiny compared to a SAM, and smaller than a R-77 or R-27 missile.

@Gearparadummies No, it's an ABM system meant to augment the A-135. It's an updated S-300VM and fires the 77N6 missiles which seem a development of the 9M82M and 9M83 missiles. Absolute telephone poles, meant to intercept incoming ICBMs.

 @airon89toyota If a S-500 were used we'd see the debris all over - the 77N6 missiles used by the S-500 are MASSIVE.

@essn6807 It's not pointless as others have said, but it also creates leverage. Imagine you managed to get your family to flee the country. But you can't join them because of the arrest warrants. You'll make a deal.
