Comments by "Titanium Rain" (@ChucksSEADnDEAD) on "Smart Guns are Dumb" video.
The issues are: 1. All it takes is for the first hack or malfunction to result in a cop getting shot, and the magdumping on the perp will return as if the smart gun thing never happened. 2. The problem is that forcing bad solutions will lead to no solution being used at all (such as millions of dumb guns being treated as smart guns, actually reducing safety in total).

@motokaichou2010 Most gun safety issues are caused by the user himself, not the mechanics of the firearm.

@remix4098 Big? It has to be a small solenoid so that the battery can handle multiple cycles.

The trigger safety isn't a safety by the way, it's a "drop safety". It prevents a dropped gun from having the trigger pull on itself through inertia.

@ElCringetrollOne that's a cop out. Criminals have used fancy equipment to target regular joes.

@TenebrusI07 Mechanical triggers are useful as a safety feature, though.

@F343x2 No, it doesn't. Airbags either work or they don't. If they fail to work... too bad. But airbags do not have a failure mode where they actually prevent you from evading a potential crash. In this case, we're arguing about a safety mechanism that has the potential to make a gun stop working when you need it, when you're arguing for prevention of accidents that would happen after the user already disabled the safety.
