  4. Belarussian and Ukrainian have mutual intelligibility because of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Russia is the odd one out in Slavic languages as the aristocrats spoke French instead of Russian, which left it as a peasant language. Then writers like Pushkin constructed modern Russian with many loan words from French. Grammatically Ukrainian and Russian are similar but the mutual intelligibility is lower than other West Slav languages because of Russia's sideways evolution in the 1800s.

  6. Wrong. There's maps saying "Ukraine" before Moscow even existed. If the word means border it's because to the East you had Mongols, the Caucasus peoples in the Southeast and pirates in the Black Sea. If it was a border, it was between Europe and the lands where Europeans wouldn't venture to. As Russia, or the principality of Muscovy, did not exist yet.

  8. Stop carrying water for the administration. Trump has no carrot and no stick. By ragequitting Ukraine just figures Europe will be a better mediator and Russia figures Trump is too weak to make a deal that would punish them for re-invading. If you want peace you can't settle for "concept of a peace" - war will start again. Reminder, Russia promised to respect Ukrainian borders in 1994, and signed two peace treaties with independent Chechnya. They broke those agreements. Exactly how can you claim both sides don't want peace when Ukrainians know Russia ALWAYS breaks treaties?
