  1. If I'm not mistaken one of the people who were involved in the Spotlight expose did say he kind of regretted how the entire focus was placed on the catholic church but there's so much abuse in other places (like schools) and nobody cares.

  3.  @MicahMicahel  Japan also has a police force that is very fond of pressuring suspects for confessions without caring too much about their veracity, and sweeping murder-suicides under the rug as as double-suicides to keep their crime statistics neat. I'd rather consider that Japan is a high trust society and most crime is handled by the Yakuza that has a tacit agreement with the authorities to not cause a ruckus or spill blood and they'll stay out of each others' way.

  4. Oh and by the way, there's a huge problem with sexual assault among conscripts in Russia. It seems that if you get conscripted there's a huge chance you'll either face abuse, you'll get severely sick due to being sent to bases in cold climates and sleep in barracks that are not weather proof, or being used as free labor by generals who want to build a summer house. Maybe Putin is protecting children, but it seems like once they're 18 they're fair game.
