Even ignoring civic duty, independently of how wise the decision to be there was it simply doesn't matter from a legal standpoint. People who are too bone-headed to understand that concept are honestly dragging society down.

And he shot at cops. If we believed twitter, we'd presume he'd have been killed in jail by his captors at the same time the CCTV "malfunctioned".

@nothanks3236 UI changes don't happen for everyone at the same time. I forgot the reason but I think it's because UI changes are annoying for the user and they don't want to feed the backlash. I also saw people say they lost the dislike counter several days ago but I could still see it yesterday.

That's not accurate. The police did not tell them to arrest them, because citizen powers of arrest are a complete crapshoot. They confronted a suspect who died as a result of the confrontation, and if the courts find that they performed an illegal citizen's arrest that essentially makes them guilty of murder. Just like if someone dies of a heart attack when you rob a bank, you're pinned for that death.

@BF-I-II-V-V-III-VII "Felony murder" doesn't require the intent to kill. If you commit a crime and someone dies as a result, there's transfer of intent so you can be charged for a death even if it was accidental, and it receivers the same punishment as murder. For it to be manslaughter they'd have to plead to aggravated assault so that the death merges with the assault charge and thus becomes unintentional. Because they tried self-defense, it now requires the citizen's arrest to be legal. And illegal citizen's arrest bumps the death to murder because it now was a death caused as a result of a crime. What the police said is essentially non-binding. They'll easily wash their hands off that. The older guy being a former cop is precisely why this case is so bad, he should have known he was going to get in trouble if something happened.
