@jhpfdijtuiweruot There's independent reviews of Starlink. The hardware has weird choices and the fact that you can't transfer your starlink to someone else is baffling, but it works.

@jhpfdijtuiweruot They have 5 ground stations in the US.

@jhpfdijtuiweruot just take your meds

@jhpfdijtuiweruot Usually an internet provider needs to lay cable, which can be a very expensive process. To the point that there's small town ISPs who rent out the 4G signal from nearby towers just to get better internet than dial-up or the weakest possible broadband. With Starlink, they have managed to provide high speeds to places where it's not available or it's simply unaffordable.

@jhpfdijtuiweruot Depending where you live, Starlink can be cheaper and much faster. "All the other companies" are often not using towers but cable. Getting 4G from towers often requires repeaters in very rural areas because each tower has a range limit.

@jhpfdijtuiweruot I have no idea if they use towers, I've never seen a starlink ground station. What I know is that towers have limited range and you cannot get Starlink like service from non-Starlink. Magic invisible satellites have provided internet for like 20 years. It sucked. Starlink satellites are actually visible. People who take night sky photography actually complain about Starlink ruining long exposure shots.

@jhpfdijtuiweruot how you crammed SJWs into this topic is anyone's guess, but I assume it's related to lack of meds
