They put an ad for a German speaking actor and all the responses were frontmen for Rammstein cover bands, please understand.

The UN should immediately send the Blue Helmet Polar bears to deal with the situation. (Sorry for ruining the joke but penguins are not native to the arctic, they exist on the Southern Hemisphere and Galapagos islands exclusively, with polar bears not being natural predators as they are from the arctic)

@newonevery740 Okay, if stories don't satisfy you we have high res combat footage of an "unarmed" Russian pulling the pin on a grenade while surrendering to a Ukrainian soldier. It's not just a story. We have cold hard evidence of such things happening.
29
There's pictures from the 2010s of American vehicles covered with anime stickers on the inside during GWOT deployments.
28
"Full blown Christian state without foreigners" they have a strong Muslim minority and invited immigrants from central Asia to join the Russian army as a fast track to Russian citizenship lol
27
@davidkottman3440 if you have to give the "good" (PR) answer, your actual answer is too sus to say out loud
26
At some point they made radios that wouldn't tune into the station, but it was possible to hack it.
21
@sirex9244 lmao straight for the as hominem

@twolessba1087 It's not a dogwhistle. You people see a buzzword and start immediately misusing it. A dogwhistle is something that will skate by unnoticed by most people except those in the know. Like whistles meant for dogs use a frequency that is heard by dogs but not humans. This is just an off color joke delivered through subtext. Subtext is MEANT to be understood by the audience. The offensive joke: the West are the reincarnation of the Nahtzees. The subtext: rather than directly calling the West evil, it uses the WELL KNOWN connection between fashion brand Hugo Boss and Nahtzees.

@Tyrant_13 Right. But ever since Eisenhower made the speech about the military industrial complex, the military industry actually shrank by an order of magnitude.
19
@kathleenrobertpogue6818 So if the proxy is out of ammo, and the powerful countries are out of ammo, why isn't Russia achieving victory? Try answering the actual question in a way that makes sense.
17
@majungasaurusaaaa Nobody else had to abide by any dress code.
17
@Erakius323 Because drunken riots and accidents would make the aid efforts harder.
16
@stevet5785 Nice change of subject. Were you told what the Serbs did to the Croat Serbs?
15
@BRANFED Not what happened. Basically Van Riper decided to borderline sabotage the exercise by "playing the MILES game". When BluFor jammed his comms he switched to bike messengers. But the simulation was not meant for that so they still worked like electronic communications. Bike messengers take time to travel, they get lost, they fall, they get intercepted, etc. but in the simulation it worked like unjammable radio. Then he had massive anti-ship missiles installed on small boats. In real life it would not be possible, but the simulation wasn't programmed to prohibit it. Then when the "game" started the BluFor navy had their defenses shut down to avoid them locking up civilian air and sea traffic, and the simulation spawned the boat swarm right in front of BluFor. So nobody had time to react when the simulated attack began. It was basically cheating on a computer game, and Van Riper threw a tantrum when he was asked to reset the scenario.

@Canuck96Myster You want Ukraine to violate their constitution because an American said so? How do you feel about Europeans saying the Second Amendment should be changed?
14
@Roamingeast if I'm flying a drone and you're getting carried on a stretcher by two combat capable soldiers, I'm dropping. I need to get those two. It's cruel? Too bad.
12
Bellingcat was already doing great work. Unfortunately bad actors like Mac Blumenthal and Aaron Mate smeared Bellingcat as a "NATO trolllfarm". Almost as if every Russian accusation is an admission.
11
@RustySchackleford-m5o There was a Russian ship with a mini-sub seen in the area.
11
@philip5940 To recover a tank in a battle zone you have to expose your recovery vehicle and combat engineers. That means you have to advance to get a safety buffer. Finishing it off prevents Russian recovery.
11
Actually the American pilot was baited into a dogfight by a Chinese pilot, who climbed into a loop and jumped out while whipping his 50 cal sniper rifle, quickscoped the pilot and fell into the F-35 cockpit. I have 5000 hours in Battlefield games so I know it can be done.
10
@187Rajah if it's failing why do you need to demoralize? Hmmm almost like you're begging for the west to stop supporting Ukraine.
10
How many diplomats do you know driving around in anything bigger than a U-haul?
10
@sumduma55 Complete nonsense. They're fighting because Ukraine has fought Imperial Russia and Bolshevik Russia in the past. This conflict has existed longer than politicians have and it's the culmination of the Russian imperial dream.
10
Read "Eric Shun" out loud. If you don't get it, read slightly faster until you do.
10
Muh dogwhistles.
10
@mrsam0496 How many calls has he failed?
10
@Formulka They can be directed at different targets.
10
@AlexKarasev Ukraine wasn't the frontier of Russia. It was the frontier of Europe. Beyond Ukraine you had bad mofos in the Caucasus, the steppes, there were pirates, etc. so you don't go East beyond those lands. That's why it was labelled Ukraina in maps before Russia existed.
9
@bartunthegreat2999 Of course the criminal thinks people joining the neighborhood crime watch is "hostile".
9
@stevenobrien557 The 1991 Kuwait oil fields pumped black soot into the atnosphere and the effects were 1) localized and 2) short lived. Plus, modern cities aren't built of wood like 1940s Japan.
9
Reminds me of a Chuck Pressburg story. Mortar lands behind him and his guys. Then mortar lands ahead of them. He turns to the guy next to him "are we being bracketed?" "Seems like it" "well then let's get out of here!"

If a third party gives you 50 free Hellfires and you waste one, you're down to 49 (quick maffs). Are you sure that only 49 high enough value targets will show up until the next batch? While you may not think of monetary cost, you think of supply. The dollar signs are worthless, if you need 50 Hellfires to complete your mission and you decided to waste one, you're gonna feel like a real jerk.
8
Fun fact the Rossiya 1 channel ran that story and later issued a retraction. But with 15 other sources parroting the story the misinformation seed was planted.
8
@eriknervik9003 The best stockpiles were pulled first. Whatever is coming now is degraded to hell and back.
8
@bilic8094 You don't drive across a country in a forklift. You use them to take pallets out of aircraft and train wagons. And put them on a vehicle. I can't fault people for not knowing stuff but you MUST have seen the loading docks for trucks at a supermarket. Forklifts don't deliver cargo. They take cargo out of the vehicle that delivers it. Otherwise you have to do it by muscle, which is long and back breaking work.
8
@sumduma55 The money has to be spent either way. Old stockpiles are dumped into the sea to make coral reefs, current equipment is stored, and new equipment is bought. New equipment has to be purchased every year. All the Ukraine conflict did was frontload purchases by a few years. Also, the rest of the money wasted goes to American workers, who then use that money to keep other American workers employed. Government spending is inefficient, but that's because of the economic calculation problem and the government does tend to make bad choices when picking stuff for the private sector. However, the govt doesn't have to calculate supply and demand for military gear. They are the demand. And there's no private US Army.

@warhorse03826 Considering the Feb/March 2022 blunders they really went to war with no maps, apparently.
7
Without the cultural context of Korea human waves, to me "meat wave" sounds like a term inspired by videogames where you fight off waves. Like zombies/horde mode. You play the game to see how many rounds you can last, knowing you can never truly win. So Ukrainians have to defend territory knowing that eventually they will have to abandon it, because the waves will keep coming.
6
@ericfleming5522 and if you check the 2018 video, you can see thermal footage of the telephone pole that us a GMLRS rocket from a HIMARS hitting them.
6
But didn't the courts side with the troops? You take a laundry list of shots when you deploy to countries where diseases we have erradicated exist. But in part we have erradicated them because we had decades of well developed shots which blocked transmission. The stuff was experimental, so the discharges could be reversed. At least last time I checked, I haven't kept up with the legal challenges.
6
@opensocietyenjoyer It is true, it just so happens the guy saying it is an expert in Slavic history
6
@jpx1508 the MiG-29 variants lost the upper wing intakes to make room for fuel.
6
It's not doxxing when the information is public. There's a difference between your name and profile photo and actually having your address, where your workplace is, your number, etc
6
@sykessaul123 Iraq wasn't a NATO operation. Most of NATO refused to go until the peacekeeping phase started.
6
@diverr69 there's photos of shells where different drawings are superimposed over paint blobs and chips that match on the anti corrosion paint. It's the same picture of the same shell used multiple times.
6
@fredmdbud Is Halliburton part of the MIC? There's a difference between politicians diverting contracts to a company they have ties to, and military industry companies creating wars to sell weapons. Halliburton got infrastructure and delivery contracts. That's not MIC.
5
@Tentacl People throw around the term "media literacy" waaay too often these days, but it does bother me you're the only person who correctly interpreted what the guy was saying.
5
Oblastposting is a gem.
5
So Japan, South Korea, Germany, etc don't exist anymore?
