  1. Clearly you've never met a brass goblin. Some wet tumbling and a run through a roll sizing die restores most shells.

  2. ​ @TheRolvaag  to restore spent shells for guns, you can pick up range brass, run them through a tumbler with steel pins, water, dishwasher soap and a touch of citric acid. The cases rolling around with the steel pins and chemical cleaning makes them shine like new. You'd need a comically oversized tumbler to clean tank shells, though.
