How many diplomats do you know driving around in anything bigger than a U-haul?

@Zach0451 This strike was more justifiable than the one on the van full of kids during the Afghanistan withdrawl.

It's not excuses, it's reality. You go out there to move supplies, nobody knows if they're civilian or military. The hammer is looking for a nail, don't go out looking like a nail.

Wasn't a random target. It was a convoy. Targeting enemy supplies is basic warfare.

@Hrafnskald Name these American diplomats driving around in supply trucks. Honestly I'd expect them to be in SUVs.

If the logos were not IR reflective, they can't be seen at night. Ever seen non IR treated camouflage under night vision? Especially desert camouflage? You look like you're wearing a white pijama. The blobs of dye that are supposed to make you hard to see vanish, because the entire uniform reflects the same "color".

@leogaskell3138 The enemy doesn't identify itself for your convinience. If something is unidentified it means there's no way to verify if it's friendly. Which is exactly what happens when you see the enemy.

@keatonwastaken Russia purposefully strikes refugee convoys as policy. They did it in Syria and Ukraine. And such convoys can't be mistaken by military ones because the civilians are driving their soccer mom vans instead of several ton trucks.

You strike a Hamas convoy, you shave off weeks if not months off the conflict. Therefore minimizing civilian suffering. They can continue to be observed. And that's all you'll do when the vehicles enter a town. Now your high value targets can enter buildings, tunnels, or just mix into the crowd making the collateral worse. Remember when the US had a shot on Osama Bin Laden in Sudan back in the 1990s but the strike was called off? Imagine being the guy who had OBL on his drone feed. Before 2001.

The Red Crescent is used in Arab countries.
