  1. The US wanted to depose Assad while Russia backed him. Nobody wants a direct war between them so that's why there's no real intervention.

  2. Studies done after 2003 did not find that level of mortality. Most likely the Saddam government pressured interviwed subjects to report deaths that did not happen.

  4. It's not propaganda. Ironically the videos filmed by Russian propagandists helped provide evidence that the Assad regime had done it.
