We're grabbing a huge punch and instead of concentrating the force in an area equivalent to your knuckles, we're spreading the same force on a much larger surface area, reducing the pressure it exerts on the body. A slug hits like a freight train because it concentrates it's whole power into it's surface area. Marciano's punch generated more ft lbs than a 9mm. But it was spread on a surface larger than a 9mm bullet, so he didn't turn people's brains into slush.

  2. A 12 ga slug is about 2400 ft lbs at the muzzle. Rocky Marciano threw a 925 ft lbs punch. So basically it would be like taking a punch 2.4 times stronger than Marciano and having it spread on an area that is roughly 10x12 inches.

  3. It's expensive as hell. It's pretty in news reports and Discovery Channel documentaries, but Dragon Skin is useless on the field. If a SAPI plate breaks, you slide a new one into your armor. DS has those scales bunched together so if it breaks, everything must go to be repaired. Pinnacle Armor shipped a ton of DS armor that arrived broken. It breaks down in salt water, heat, cold and diesel fuel. Bullets can still go trough from certain angles.
