  1. ​ @user-rt2sm5ny5r  Pilots account for the Earth's curvature in several situations. For example they follow great circle flight paths because the distance across two points on the same latitude is shorter away from the Equator. So rather than fly parallel to the Equator, along latitude lines, they curve towards the Poles to save time and fuel. In the DCS flight sim the map is flat to simplify development. However the grid lines for coordinates are curved. That is because if you lay places that exist in a real world in a flat plane the real life coordinates no longer match up.

  2. ​@slavicemperor8279 there's also a funny military anecdote about Britain's response to the Falklands invasion, there were mechanical computers doing the ballistic compensation for the big guns and when the ships cross the Equator they have to reverse it. They were in such a hurry they forgot to reverse the system so when they got to shoot at Argentinian positions all the shots were missing because the ballistics computer was tracking as if they were still in the Northern hemisphere.

  3. But it's winter this time of year. To see the 24 hour sun this time of the year you need to go to the South where it's summer. Also it's a double whammy because many flat earthers claim it's illegal to go to the South Pole.
