  2. Flight hours are similar to 5th gen, and newer stealth coatings aren't like the old ones. Stealth gets you where you need to be. An aircraft broadcasting its position is less effective at using EW and sensors.

The F-35 is: - stealth - mini AWACS - Marines organic air support through amphibious assault ships - allow partner nations with only helicopter carriers or operate Harrier to field a 5th gen naval fighter, which is unprecedented - the missile warning system turned out so great, it's now also the best IRST, making those bubble things on Russian fighters look like a toy - the A variant is cheaper than 4th gen fighters How's the EX a better idea? How are you gonna launch them off a USMC short deck carrier? You know how many F-35s have been made? They delivered the 600th like two years ago. They have the logistics. The EX? It's gonna get what? 80-100 built? It's a small run to keep the St. Louis plant open due to lack of orders...

  7.  @robertsmith4681  Okay, then don't hang anything outside the bay. It can still carry missiles and drop bombs. The F-35 will be closer to the enemy. Nobody can do the job as well as a stealth aircraft because they have to stand far away.
