@thevictoryoverhimself7298 But you do realize that such a radius is basically handgun shooting distance, right? If you're shooting that close to friendlies you'd coordinate with the ground troops to instead strafe enemies further away and use the shock for the friendlies to win the fight against the closer enemies. Danger Close for a bomb can be something like 600 meters, which is considered rifle/SAW range for area targets. You support the troops by engaging enemies in contact, but not ones within spitting distance. The splash zone doesn't move at the speed of a jet. There's a pipper indicating the impact point and you fly your jet in a way that keeps the impact point stable while pulling the trigger. You'd only use a moving impact point to do something like making a pass on a convoy which is conveniently lined up.

It works in 1vs1 duels but not when a wingman is there to just bonk you while you're stalling.

@thevictoryoverhimself7298 Wrong. The A-10 was designed for Vietnam, then forced into being an anti-armor interdiction aircraft, which would have sacrificed the lives of dozens of pilots so that the US could cross the Atlantic with reinforcements.
