@nagantm441 It would block out the sensor. It's essentially layers of glass with additives and specific thicknesses that cause refraction of the wavelengths you don't want to see but allows the wavelenghts from thermal emissions to pass through.

You can estimate based on known data. You can estimate ahead of time how long a part will work until it will need replacement, and for refurbishments you can use similar equipment that exists on current aircraft.

"aren't accounting for thrust vectoring allowing tight turns" - Forget turns. The chances both sides would want to get close is very slim. "It has better avionics" - doubt.jpg "It has higher payload than 35" - 2,000lbs less than the 35... "The Soviets had super maneuverability in the 70s" - And it has no practical use in combat. Purposefully stalling yourself is a surefire way to eat a missile.

@emericanchaos What does that even mean? They're still showing off super-maneuverability as if it mattered and you're pointing out they had it in the small window of time it mattered. Either way, even in a gunfight super-maneuverability would be a last resort maneuver where you already lost and you pulled a hail mary. In a 1vs1 it might work, but you stall yourself in a gunfight and a wingman will just shred the slowly moving plane in seconds.
