  1. Two different aircraft means two different pipelines for pilots and mechanics. Unless your force is massive (like the US) it's incredibly expensive to run two dissimilar fighter aircraft. The problem with remote strips is that now you have to hire people to live in those remote areas. Your pilots, mechanics, etc will eventually want to settle down and have a family, which they can't do in the middle of nowhere. A remote strip isn't just a strip. There has to be fuel, weapons, parts, mechanics, security, etc manning that base otherwise you're only landing for emergencies.

  2. People go "it's complicated!" while posting on a smartphone and driving on fuel injection instead of carburetor. All modern aircraft are complicated. Do people think Super Hornets are flown by cable links and you can pop the canopy to manually charge the gun by hand like in WWI?

Funny how the only way 4th gens beat the F-35 is by getting loaded with all sorts of externals that kill performance. Once you have CFTs, bags under the wings and more AMRAAMS than could fit on the F-35 there goes your speed and turning ability.

  5. Funny how the countries that rejected the Gripen did have a list of reasons why it didn't get picked. Gripen fans are like "dude, trust me".

  6. Buying 30 is a very small force, you're basically overinflating all training and msintenance/repair costs because you have billions split between just 30 aircraft. The more of each you buy the more you save. The more different things you buy, the more money you bleed trying to maintain them all.

  9. Anyone with access to google could have told you Russia's 5th gen was a farce. 12 built, 2 crashed. You don't buy 5th gen to go against 5th gen, you buy 5th gen to win against 4th gen. Never get into a fair fight. You want to trade plane for plane or just win before the enemy knows you're there?

  10. ​ @HabitualButtonPusher  Yeah why do you want to be an unseen ghost instead of a jousting knight anyone can see from a hundred miles out? Stealth is needed for defense. Anyone broadcasting their location with radar returns is only making their life harder.

  11. Finland rejected the Gripen C a long time ago. Funnily enough because it had higher flying costs than the F-16.
