  4.  @Darren4352  Moving the goalposts. The A-10's speed has nothing to do with anything. The A-10 has not been under threat of fire in decades. The wing refresh doesn't make it deadly, it makes it fly without the wings ripping off mid-air. It was literally so old that 2 billion were spent in rebuilding wings just so it wouldn't run past structural limits and break off in flight.

  5.  @monty2654  The A-10 was designed to take serious damage from 14.5mm AA and occasional 23mm cannon fire. The 14.5mm AA was the most common threat in Vietnam against the Skyraider. A Tunguska ripping 30mm from nose to tail would shred the A-10. The F-35 is literally designed with independent hydraulics so it's even more redundant than the A-10. True CAS is a fallacy. There's no such thing as true CAS. All CAS is true CAS.

  6.  @monty2654  The A-10 was purpose built against lackluster air defenses. It could absorb damage back in the good old days. With modern SHORAD that just splits aircraft in half, the A-10 cannot absorb punishment. A continuous rod warhead can physically slice an aircraft in half. Front half of an A-10 physically split from the rear half, it's not flying. It's not absorbing the damage. It stops being an aircraft and becomes a falling wreckage.

  8.  @SoloRenegade  An SA-2 has a 430 lb warhead. Sorry, I do not believe a 430 lb BOMB going off in the wing of a A-10 would have left an airframe. Total disintegration would have been observed.
