@chrisab66 No. This is how viruses work. Every mutation is toast thrown at the wall. Sometimes the butter sticks. Sometimes it doesn't. Humans get mutations too. Mutations can be good, they can be neutral, they can be bad. Green eyes is a mutation. But so is Down Syndrome. Nothing unnatural about a virus mutating into a variant that is defective.

Because that would require massive amounts of data we don't have. If we found the variant in 10 people, and 5 are alive and 5 are dead, doesn't mean it has a 50% fatality rate. Because there could be 10,000 people who already had it, but you don't know who or where they are.

@thebrowns5337 Have you read books? Because if you had you would clearly be aware that history is full of "experts" who turned out to be sick twisted people. I consider someone an expert when they can prove their worth and their track record speaks for itself. When a random nobody who probably hasn't worked a real job in decades shows off his government credentials, I don't think they're "experts". Being an appointed stooge doesn't make someone an "expert". When they get things consistently wrong to the point that Joe The Plumber or Kyle The Pizza Delivery Guy could have predicted this kerfuffle 15 months ago, they're not experts at all.

@1ACL How? The genetic testing in the SF Bay Area shown that unspiked had a 45-55 split of resistant and non-resistant variants, while the spiked had a 78% prevalence of antibody resistant strains. The evolutionary advantage is on the side of variants that can evade antibodies, as non-resistant variants will have a harder time spreading worldwide.
