  1. ​ @Shadoweclipse1386  The kind of bomb is somewhat irrelevant, H-bombs having a higher yield also means there's a greater area where duck and cover will save people. Duck & cover was developed in part by interviewing Nagasaki and Hiroshima survivors. There were survivors close to the epicenter because their building was sturdy and they covered under desks. If you can survive a few hundred yards from the epicenter of an A-bomb, you can use duck & cover a few miles away from an H-bomb.

  2. That's the thing, safe distance becomes relative to your orientation as you'd be safe a few miles upwind but downwind you could be affected 30-40 miles away.

  4. ​ @ferretyluv  Duck and cover does take into account radiation. If you duck after a flash you will receive a lower dose.
