Honestly, I'm on the other way around. I'm sick of people explaining things to me at a 6th grade level. I actually know more than the people who are trying to lecture me, and that makes me feel they were lectured to like children, and now they're trying to lecture me like I'm a child. No, I know what these people are telling me are massive oversimplifications. It doesn't work that way.

@westleymullins Someone speaking at a 6th grade level doesn't mean they're not able to learn or understand concepts. Talking to people like children only leads to two outcomes - people will feel offended and reject the message, or promoting infantilization and we'll be consistently trapped in a treadmill of trying to lower the grade at which we speak instead of pulling everyone to a higher level. There's nothing that tanks credibility like purposefully talking down to people. I'll be primed to look for the inconsistencies and inaccuracies.

@westleymullins And I'm just saying, after almost two years of people trying to use 6th grade language, I'd rather blow my brains out. Because I know that what they're saying is wrong and they were purposefully taught with 6th grade language to imprint this wrong information into their heads in an easily digestible way.

@dont4922 This assumes that people will not take their safety as their own responsibility. When authorities were saying masks are useless, I saw people wearing full fledged respirators and gas masks to go shopping. And the measures will be adapted by each business, instead of having two or three sizes fits all of measures that outright force closures without any leeway, or severely limit walk ins, while other businesses are allowed to operate freely. Also, the sharp and short lockdown would not have worked considering that in the Americas and Europe we have found samples taken in late 2019 that included antibodies for the Wuhan strain, meaning it was already present, and it would continue through household contacts and resurface when the lockdown was over.

You want to stop someone's liver, stomach and lungs under the assumption only the heart and brain are essential. You can't. There's no built in support or compassion, you can't hit pause on human activity and get surprised that non-essential stuff is actually critical to maintain the essential stuff.

@eachday9538 A medically induced coma requires people to be awake to monitor you, feed you, etc. If you put everyone in a coma at the same time, who's there to make sure you're not dying? Who's there to keep making the food that goes into the tube? I have to seriously question those numbers. One would think the economy was running on fumes but kept afloat by government policy, and then the training wheels have to come off and now you're seeing the actual effects from the lockdown. All policies you enact in short term to avoid a collapse is just money you're taking from your future self. When the time comes to pay and as it turns out you've only delayed the inevitable, you're stuck with both the collapse and the debt.

@eachday9538 Okay, how do essential workers manage to work without non-essentials? Essentials still need clothes, shoes, dry cleaning, to eat, etc. Either everyone's essential or nobody is. Farmers had to destroy produce because they had no workers to harvest, no workers to ship the product, and even if they had all that there were other issues such as non-essential factories being on hold and thus produce and meat not having plastic to wrap them. You think food is essential, but food requires a ton of non-essential things to come to your store. You think you can draw a line on what's essential and what's not. Your lockdown just became... tanking the entire entertainment industry I guess? Yeah screw those musicians and roadies and sound/lighting people. Everyone keeps working but them, because it's the only sector that others don't depend on. What does testing do except show you the cases that aren't serious? Good, you have a bigger number on the counter on TV. So what? That's not going to cure the ones in the hospital, but you'll be able to cause even more issues as entire chunks of the workforce are required to stay home and isolate due to contact. They test negative, go back to work, then someone tests positive again. Back to isolation. Now workplaces don't even have essentials. You've done absolutely nothing to protect the vulnerable, but you sure got to cause more pain and suffering.

Nothing was squandered away, all you had was a delay of the inevitable. You knew Australia had to come in contact with it at some point. Or do they keep the country inside a bubble forever? Yeah, you got compliance rates high by threatening people with the loss of their jobs. Great. Not cowardly and scummy at all, go after people's livelihoods to get your way. The Harvey Weinstein method, I call it. Death rates are lowering across the board due to Omicron. We tried the spectrum. By pushing for more, you want the all. How are you paying for social supports when you essentially demolish the economy? I only brought up that sector because it would be the only one unaffected. So no lockdown except for musicians, and we don't destroy the economy so we can pay them? Sure. Most of the spread will still occur in households, it would be probably safer to attend concerts. No matter the way you slice it, you're always making grave mistakes trying to set policy.

Because people were told to stay home, so they got worse and had to be taken to the hospital by the time they were critical. The death rate was not 4%. That was CFR. We assumed a high death rate because we truly didn't know how many were infected. Hospitals were filled up by design. I refuse to understand that, because it's a lie. And you're a dangerous person because you've already exposed yourself a bloodthirsty tyrant. You tell this stuff publicly, and you expect me to take you seriously? After openly declaring I should die, you're a threat to my existence. How credible does the threat need to be before people have to act preemptively to prevent being wiped out by people like you?

He's not a scientist, he's a nurse. Undercounting is possible is less developed countries, but I really don't know how you could die from C19 in a country like the US and it not being flagged. They're looking at every death with a fine tooth comb, even testing corpses that were involved in shootings and car accidents for C19.

You have to be kidding. It's not just "separation" but the hinderance it causes to human activity. "Separating" from others meant that many businesses tanked. And thus the jobs with them. It meant ruining people's careers. It mean ruining schooling and education. Yes, the government and politics are to blame. The only way to get over it is to say you're over it. Really? Two years into it, and with the stuff becoming endemic, you want to social distance? Suck it up? With all that comes with it? Poverty? Suicides? Suck it up?

@ahsanxr Incredulity isn't an argument. In New Zealand a man shot to death was counted as C19 CoD. In Portugal a stillbirth due to intercranial hemorrhage was tested postive and declared C19 CoD.

@ahsanxr My grandfather survived almost a decade with several comorbidities. Pneumonia finally took him out. As tragic as it was, my family somewhat saw it as a blessing. If you were going to die from an opportunistic infection after getting the flu or cold with several co-morbidities in 2022, this stuff got to you first in 2020. There's also the aspect of improper treatment protocols killing people and the many who had their treatments and screenings suspended. We also have the issue with local governments sending sick people to care homes. So called deaths of despair, suicide and alcoholism/OD actually surpassed C19 deaths in many cities. Some countries actually saw increases in road fatalities, despite lockdowns. Less people driving around, more deaths on the road. Something to keep in mind. The claim that all deaths when you severely hinder human activity have to come from the disease and none came from the quote unquote cure is seriously delusional. Obviously a ton of people will die from lack of care, from their life hitting rock bottom, etc. without ever being infected.

@hhiippiittyy This is absolute nonsense. I live in an area with extremely high compliance. I complied. I stated this went too far, but I complied anyway. We're still living in this nightmare. No, we did not deserve this. You're just pulling accusations out of your rear end.

@nufh I live in Europe. We masked. We followed social distancing. We have a 90 percent vaccination rate. This has not gone away. We're not South East Asia. We've not been allowed to move on. We made the government's job easy. We don't deserve this. Please. Stop talking about what you don't know.
