@marklefevre3476 "If you put a mask on, it slows down the air you exhale and keeps it in a more confined area. It physically doesn't get to them." - It still gets to them. Just a lesser number of particles. "When you inhale, you're breathing in their air, whether you're wearing a mask or not." - Yes, but when you inhale the low pressure zone sucks the mask right up to your face. So you take a limited breath through the gaps when you start, and everything else gets pushed through the filtering surface. When you exhale, the positive pressure zone forces the mask away from your face and creates wider gaps that serve as path of least resistance.

"The point is to stop a pandemic" - If that was the point you wouldn't have called people racist for noticing something was happening in Wuhan. You people insisted on not taking action. Then you brought on government mandates by the time it was too late to stop it. "why the fuck would you take on the added risk to yourself and your families" - Hold on, now I have to wear a mask at home? "Asian countries that were close to China, used masks from the get go of the outbreak and were able to control their numbers very well." - They also immediately started quarantines for travelers and contact tracing. You people said it was racist to think travelers could be carrying the virus. You people said it was the flu. You people said only doctors know how to wear masks correctly. And by the time it was too late, you people decided it was the goddamn plague. To hell with your blatant revisionism.

@Brejamlyn I've used condoms all my life and they never failed. People are using masks and still getting sick. I fail to see how the comparison is supposed to convince me.

Blatantly untrue. Many on the right started looking into masks as a means of self-protection when the government said they didn't work. Then the relevant government agencies, which allowed unchecked spread in the first place, pretended it could be contained and eliminated choice by issuing mandates. That is politics.
