"Woo" is a term for ideas, rituals, etc which involve mysticism, the occult, junk "science", etc.

The mysticism, the occult, faux science. The horoscope, aligning your chakras, quantum medicine, all woo.

The Taliban essentially offered to surrender Bin Laden to a neutral country if evidence of his involvement in 9/11 was proven. They knew that the US wouldn't accept the first term as Bin Laden would just flee a country he was not actively hunted in, and everyone knows that the US wouldn't expose classified intelligence for the sake of satisfying the Taliban. Basically, the Taliban offered asylum to Bin Laden and you don't go back on your word but they also didn't want want to look like the bad guys in the international stage. The proposition was a way to play both sides - they honor their commitment to providing asylum without looking like turncoats but also feign cooperation. These attempts to manipulate the narrative are very transparent. It's like some of you never saw "heads I win tails you lose" negotiations. Afghanistan doesn't have a great economy so poppy cultivation was a big source of revenue. The US neeeded to cooperate with warlords in order to fight the Taliban, and the Taliban themselves started using the poppy cultivation as a way to finance the insurgency. Is it any wonder that one of the few cash crops that all sides turned to had to be patrolled?

Oh and while I understood the plot it was somewhat confusing. I remember asking my mother when she came back from the theater and she thought the villain was going to speed up the melting of the ice caps with the laser. She actually missed the plot point where Graves was the son of the NK general and the laser was going to clear the DMZ.

That's the point. You're watching these for the political context around the movies, not a movie review.

I was "present" at the start of the pizzagate conspiracy catching on. One detail that often flies under the radar is that the restaurant does not have a basement but a building two doors down does. That explains the inconsistency in regards to an interview with the owner where he describes home canning ingredients in the basement and later saying the restaurant does not have a basement. Both statements are true. How Hillary Clinton got added to the mix I don't know.

It's a 2h45 video, be more specific.

The resources were looted by Russians. Notice how he oligarchs are not named things like "John Smith". It was criminal gangs and Yeltsin's friends who looted everything. Not westerners. Please. Have you actually lived your life thinking Russia was looted by Westerners and never wondered why oligarchs are mostly Russian nationals? Look into the Chubais public ownership of stocks project and the Yeltsin loans program. You'll notice that the two major instances of Soviet wealth being accumulated into the hands of a few did not involve the West.

Because they were easy to believe in. I believed in the molten steel. Until I was shown the original picture of firefighters looking at a white light. The picture was spread with an orange tint which looked like a foundry. It was just a white floodlight used for search purposes.

You should listen to people from the Baltics. Sometimes they sound like they hate Russia more than the Polish.

That's not a "cause". There has to be a will to fight before asking if fighting is okay. And it wasn't a sham. Welcome to democracy and decentralized powers. Ask 10 government representatives for an opinion and you get 15. You never know what the right hand is doing when you look at the left either, a diplomat isn't going to call the Oval Office every time they're asked a question. However when they parrot the official stance can't predict what the president or Congress think when they see the news.

Good ingredients, just a bad mixing ratio and a little raw in the middle. The car chase in the ice is pure product placement as both Aston Martin and Jaguar were in the same conglomerate, and using the speed racer's hood as a surfboard to escape feels unearned and thus a jump the shark moment. The Korea and Cuba segments are great, it's the ice hotel thing where everything falls apart.

@jkabrams341 Bin Laden was funded by daddy's money and his merry band of troublemakers were drawn to conflict like war junkies. Afghanistan was just a place to fight in, and according to Bin Laden himself he was offended that the US military was defending Saudi Arabia from Saddam. Why not blame Saudi Arabia? After all they looked at the 4th or 5th largest army in the world and decided to ask the US for help instead of some trust fund kid's private militia. What do the Mujahideen have to do with that, apart from the fact that Bin Laden was technically on their side the prior decade?

If I recall correctly Clinton did get asked for authorization to take him out in Sudan but he denied it due to the collateral.

It's like if I hit a neighbor's car while parking some unrelated person from a different street decided to set fire to my house because I didn't mow the lawn. Yeah I messed up parking my car but the other guy wasn't even taking revenge on my poor driving. None of the reasons people say the US "caused" 9/11 match OBL's stated reason for the attacks.

@xp7575 The problem is that assuming a more modern architecture would come up to deal with it was more feasible than assuming that today opening a Google Chrome tab would instantly soak up 1.5 Gb RAM and nobody bats an eye. They made the choice back when the memory savings was worth it.
