Gun crime went up in the UK after the bans. New Zealand proves that what happened in Australia was not due to the gun bans, in fact the gun-related crime was falling since the late 60's and several developed countries had a decrease in violence during the 90's that you're not accounting for. The terrorists in France bought AK's off a guy on the internet. I will always worry that some fucker bought guns just as easy as one buys illegal drugs. So let us have the chance to stop the bad guys rather than disarming everyone and giving them victims on a silver platter.

There was less gun crime in the UK before the bans.

@zeddy2284 China is a dystopian hellhole that wants to control all it's citizens (check China Uncensored and serpentza's recent videos here on youtube) and Russia is not only a corrupt oligarchy but it is also currently violating international law by prohibiting access to the Azov sea and firing on Ukrainian ships that had the right to enter those waters.

The UK thought about doing the test but they figured it was useless. Not only people "game" the test but they also knew they did not have the money nor the infrastructure to put all gun owners through tests. Plus someone failing the test didn't mean they would be violent, and someone passing the test didn't mean they weren't. Mental illness is a bad predictor of violence.

@rinxnix brain scans only show physical damage

@fumbiadegbesan5571 mental illness is a bad predictor of violence. Just because someone has been diagnosed with anxiety they shouldn't be able to own guns?

+PizzaManDraven that's actually false, most developed countries have guns and have no problems, and many countries with very little gun ownership are absolutely violent hellholes. I am European and I think we should have guns to protect ourselves because the gun control laws are useless. It's just that our criminals get less profit from murder because we're not fighting a war on drugs, legal gun owners in Europe or US are not the problem.

Don't startle them and get a court order to deem them unfit to manage their own affairs.

@whiteboy62003 Be reasonable. Out of the military? Why would a person IN the military need a gun in the first place? When the government wants them to shoot they give them weapons and ammo, and then lock the guns up in the armory when they're done. Why would the military be awarded special rights? Why exactly do you think an AK should not be owned? 9mm max? You do realize that 9mm is a pistol caliber, right? It is too underpowered to bring down most game. 12 gauge shotguns (which are easy to get in the UK) are much more powerful and destructive than a 9mm. If anything, MOST homicides are committed with pistols. Putting a max limit on what can be owned makes no sense when criminals are happy to use small and concealable weapons and most legitimate uses of a weapon require more power.

You mean trying to ban handguns? Considering a Vz.58 rifle less dangerous than an AK? Allowing a 10 round ".50 Beowulf mag" for "handgun AR15s" that is in fact a 30 round 5.56 magazine but forcing rifle owners to pin their 5.56 magazine to 5 rounds? Canadian gun laws are unreasonable and idiotic. Not to mention the RCMP sometimes wakes up butthurt and starts claiming some rifles will be banned and sending letters to owners to demand their surrender.

@Lilarkive there was one in August 10, another in July 22 this year. There was the Quebec city mosque shooting in January 2017. There's a wiki page for it, come on... Yes, it is unreasonable to consider an AK a prohibited weapon, which is difficult to own and nearly impossible to shoot because it's banned from most ranges, but allow Vz.58 on the non-restricted class. The weapons are very similar in power but the AK is simply more "known" as a "bad guy" weapon. I get it, itvs hard to explain to people who don't know anything about guns. But imagine the government banned red cars bevause they thought red cars are faster... Wouldn't that be unreasonable?

@Tomb-Wraith people confuse private sales with FFL sales done at gun shows. If you want guns without background check it's better to meet a guy willing to sell off a trunk on some parking lot than going to a gun show that is probably crawling with cops and undercover ATF.

@KaCing818 "people barely smuggle guns into countries with strict gun laws" - that is so false, though. The UK has a huge problem with smuggled guns. In Australia the criminals have their own gun factories.

Gun violence halved since the 90's.

@marie-leemartin259 "Don’t tell me it’s for self-defense, if no one have guns, who do you want to protect yourself from?" - people bigger than me, people with baseball bats, people with tire irons, people with knives, people with brass knuckles, people who are simply CRIMINALS and got guns ILLEGALLY. Canada has a shitload of guns. You should be scared.
1
@mattthew9559 "Self defense is not necessary if there is nobody with guns." - yeah because you'll outlaw bodybuilding to prevent men from becoming stronger, you'll ban knives, bats, any solid object that can be used as a weapon by an aggressor. "Hunting, well I think we don’t need an ar15 to hunt a deer." - what is your expertise in weapon design to make that claim? In many places you can't even hunt deer with AR15s because they are too weak.

@thanhdodeur8296 income inequality doesn't cause violence.

@Glenburrows "In England we just don't have many guns, it works." - dude you guys had LESS gun crime than before the gun bans

@zeddy2284 "we have a buffoon as usa president and these guys are taking advantage of it, when they cross the line" .... are... are you aware that Trump is one of the few politicians who has tried to pressure China, right?

Britain's gun crime rose after the handgun bans.
