If your "freedom" is just to make a horizontal move where you're paid the same and treated the same that's not saying much. Plus, the employment being tied to healthcare in America is a vestige of WW2 policy. The government is to blame for putting wage ceilings in place that promoted the use of benefits as a way to "pay" higher wages without breaking the law, and then making those benefits exempt from tax in a way that makes employers prefer to pay in benefits than actual money. "You're a lot more free to leave an abusive partner if you know there's a social net to help you while you try to get back on your feet." - Abusive partners are a problem over here too. Social safety net doesn't put a roof over your head. If you have nowhere to go the trap is the same.

If you add that requirement without warning, suddenly there's an extra expense that wasn't budgeted for. "Never understood why that's so important for you guys. Free market capitalism is the only system that can exist under anarchy, any other system is an aggression against anarchy and an imposition of a new system. The Republic of Cospaia existed under anarchy for almost 400 years and they were capitalists, tobacco growers.
