The S-400 was kind of fraudchecked during this war too. It was honestly hilarious that the Patriot had awful public perception but the Russians threw everything they had at it and the thing defended itself like it was a scene from a movie.

@threethrushes energy sales help the energy market. You need arms sales to keep the arms market alive. You need arms factories and engineers who know how to design weapons. If you just sell energy, your weapons market dies.

Does that mean Russia will stop retreating soon?

A tampon is meant to hold maybe a shot cup of blood. An arterial bleed can pump out more blood than a human has inside the body in 1-2 minutes. It's not the 70s-90s anymore. We learned a lot.

But it's the attacking side that faces the meatgrinder. Going over the wire and running across no man's land is always going to cost more lives than sitting back and machine gunning anything that moves.

@garyross4602 No, there isn't an advantage. Quality IFAK components are widely available and CHEAP. At least superglue works for what it's meant to do, and there's medical grade variants of the adhesive. Insisting on using tampons in the year of our Lord 2023 is pure stubbornness.

But since the start of the war that Ukraine's plan was not only telegraphed, but openly admitted. Wagner was a problem. The fatal losses are much worse for the attacker. Other cities would get destroyed by shelling. So fighting at Bakhmut was the most logical course of action to break Wagner and protect civilians.

They're not even cheap...

Prigozhin needs to make himself look good in comparison to the Russian MoD.

It means the arms market is shrinking. 1 billion in oil sales helps the oil market. Not weapons.

@FUG_GOOGL Proper medical gear will help because if you physically hold more pressure against the wound than the arteries can pump, fluid will not flow. Pressure differential is what causes fluid to move.

@FUG_GOOGL But they're not. You stick a tampon there, you have to then pack it in with more gauze. Just use gauze from the start. The problem with "better than nothing" is that if you truly have nothing, you'll have to rip an undershirt and use the fabric to pack the wound. If you have the tampon, you think it's a neat trick, shove it there, and then bleed out because the tampon does nothing by itself. It's a false sense of security. It's actually worse than nothing.

@FUG_GOOGL The expansion is minimal. /watch?v=Brfeu2f-LFY This video shows a working model of what bleeding does. The tampon is pushed aside and the fluid just comes out. Gauze is actually made to pack the wound. Plain gauze with no hemostatic agent is actually cheaper than tampons because each gauze roll includes more material than tampons. Please just use gauze.

Who cares? The Donbas was a net drain on the Ukrainian economy. The Soviet-era industry is in decline, the workers are ageing, and the forced conscription into the LPR/DPR eliminated the able-bodied men. Not to mention that the infrastructure is gone. Look at all the mineral resources Afghanistan has - all worthless and nobody bothers digging them out.
1
@AnnaLuchia No. Arterial blood pressure would ignore the tampon. You have to pack the wound to the point that an artery cannot flow outward at a rate that threatens the injured person.

@delanovanraalte3646 Ukraine flipped the script on Russia. They attack and hold to then force Russia to go on the attack. Ukraine is using aggressive defense, moving forward to bait attacks.
1
@luigimrlgaming9484 But it's Russia that has the supply line issue. Ukraine has their own entire country behind them. Russia depends on the Kerch bridge, the two bridges linking Crimea, and the rail to the East of Donetsk. Ukraine also shoots cluster munitions at retreating Russians.

This sounds like a rabid Democrat trying to false-flag being a Republican to make them look bad.
1
But crime is already rising in Russia due to released Wagnerites. There's videos of former Wagnerites in public causing problems and beating up cops until OMON arrives. Murder and armed crime rates in the regions near Ukraine are rising due to the violent people coming back from the war.

This is why I have my own IFAK. I actually get proper first aid equipment so that I don't get this MacGyver crap used on me.
