  2. But since the start of the war that Ukraine's plan was not only telegraphed, but openly admitted. Wagner was a problem. The fatal losses are much worse for the attacker. Other cities would get destroyed by shelling. So fighting at Bakhmut was the most logical course of action to break Wagner and protect civilians.

  4. Who cares? The Donbas was a net drain on the Ukrainian economy. The Soviet-era industry is in decline, the workers are ageing, and the forced conscription into the LPR/DPR eliminated the able-bodied men. Not to mention that the infrastructure is gone. Look at all the mineral resources Afghanistan has - all worthless and nobody bothers digging them out.

  6. But crime is already rising in Russia due to released Wagnerites. There's videos of former Wagnerites in public causing problems and beating up cops until OMON arrives. Murder and armed crime rates in the regions near Ukraine are rising due to the violent people coming back from the war.
