  1.  @ChildlessCatMan  This is from a movie. The actual historical account is that every man either had a rifle or submachinegun, but there was a large contingent of forces that had fewer heavy weapons (mortars, howitzers, etc) than they optimally should have and were ordered to attack anyway.

  2.  @lukelewis9165  The A4s were manufactured as recently as 2011 by FN Herstal USA, if I'm not getting it mixed up. The AKM started to get replaced in the 70s.

  4.  @lukelewis9165  What a riddiculous argument. The M16A4 isn't bad, it's a good weapon. It was adopted in 1997? So what? Not a good look? According to whom? Who's judging the looks? Simon Cowell? Is there an obligation in changing rifles every 20 years? No. Either way, there's been the changes with M4s and then the M27 IAR so the USMC was modernizing for the past 20 years. The military budget also goes towards things that actually work such as an air force capable of flying over enemy countries.

  5.  @lukelewis9165  It's not an issue. The "old stock" the US has are usable weapons. Russia is doing the equivalent of bringing back M2 and M3 carbines. Different generation of weapon, different caliber. It's deep storage, not old stock.

  8. The people who didn't want to fight often fight off the commissars or shouted at them until they left. Meanwhile Russian commissars in Donbas beat up the men until they lose consciousness, handcuff them and drive them to the front.
