I certainly appreciate the thought that I have a greater chance of escaping injury from a crash. They're undesirable, but they do happen.

@KarlDMarx By that logic you can't be concerned about fire safety, carbon monoxide, mold or radon concentration when buying a house. If cigarettes were made to be less cancerogenic, they'd be advertised as such. Save for the fact that they can't even be advertised anymore, it seems.

First of all, it's nearly impossible to know which country you'll be beforehand. We know that the outbreak had spread to some countries as early as 2019. For many countries, a "real" lockdown would crush them financially, and then when they opened back up they'd realize that they had missed their window and now they were dealing with many cases. Now the choice is let it kill people and save the economy, or go under hard lockdown again and kill what's left of the country.
